If a job ends, a relationship changes or a family member needs to work, check the consequences before assuming the existing residence category still fits.

Compare three practical options, renew under an available category, apply for another lawful arrangement if permitted, or leave within the allowed period. Ask about travel while an application is pending and proof of lawful status during processing. Do not assume filing an application extends every right.

Budget for onward travel, temporary housing and the period before work or care arrangements settle again. Download important records before closing accounts. If traveling with a pet, review the return rules early. A return plan is useful even when you hope to stay.
