Choose a route which fits your life

Describe an ordinary working week before selecting a visa. Who employs you, where is the employer registered, where are your clients, and what services will you deliver while physically abroad. Include freelance work, a side business, teaching, consulting and paid content creation. A route described as remote work still has conditions about which activities and customers qualify.

Give every adult a separate line in your plan. A couple with one foreign employee and one person seeking local employment has two different work questions. A family member’s permission to accompany an applicant is not evidence of their permission to work. Read the individual conditions before relying on either income.

Use a comparison with six columns, permitted activity, eligible applicants, evidence, permitted stay, family arrangements and renewal. Add the exact official page to each row. Mark unavailable information as unresolved. An attractive duration has little value if the work you plan is outside the route’s conditions.

A digital nomad route, an employer sponsored job, self employment, study, family residence and retirement are different starting points. Their availability depends on the destination. A visitor entry arrangement belongs in the comparison only if the official conditions cover your intended activity and trip purpose.

Set a date to decide whether to proceed, change destinations or postpone. Before this date, aim to have the relevant work permission identified, employer approval, a document list, a household plan and written cost quotes. Use refundable arrangements while a decision remains unresolved.

Ask what happens if an application is refused, an employer withdraws location approval, or processing takes longer than expected. Keep a return option in your budget. For a first move, a lawful trial stay is a way to test daily life before committing to a long lease, if the destination permits the activities planned for the trial.
