Romania offers a long-stay digital-nomad visa (type D/AD, under Law 22/2022) for non-EU citizens employed by companies abroad or owning businesses registered outside Romania. The income test is three times Romania's average gross salary; recent guides put that around 5,400 euros (EUR), about US$6,238-5,550 per month in 2026, but published figures conflict and older pages cite much less — check the current amount on Romania's official eVisa portal before applying. The visa is issued for one year and can be renewed, family reunification is possible, and stays under 183 days a year can bring Romanian income-tax exemption on foreign earnings under Law 69/2023.
