Where the visa stands
Colombia offers a V visa for eligible digital nomads working for overseas businesses. Its income requirement is three current legal monthly minimum wages, evidenced over the preceding three months.
Start with your work plans
The foreign-employment and freelance branch covers work exclusively for foreign businesses. At the 2026 legal minimum wage of 1,750,905 Colombian pesos (COP), about US$569, three times the wage is 5,252,715 Colombian pesos (COP), about US$1,706 per month. Passport and insurance conditions also apply.
Describe who pays you, where your employer or clients are based and what you would do while living abroad. Use those details when checking the official route. Employer approval and immigration permission are separate questions.

Take the first application step
Use Cancillería’s V digital nomad checklist and its official visa application process.
The financial figure changes with the legal minimum wage. The U.S. dollar value is an exchange-rate estimate, not a government dollar requirement.
Keep two money questions separate
The visa income test concerns the evidence required for an application. A living budget concerns your housing, healthcare, transport and daily spending. Compare both before committing to a move.
This briefing reorganizes the existing visa summary. It does not represent a new source review. The visa section of the guide keeps the original review dates and qualifications.
